dreamlog First Nightmare (Age 5) I'm on the set of Captain Kangaroo. Mr. Greenjeans turns on the radio and walks away. It's the aria from Carmen, the one everyone knows, the one Miss Frog used to sing on the show, up on a balcony with a wig. And there's Miss Frog, looking creepy as ever. She looks right at me and tells me to turn off the radio. But I don't know how, I'm freaked out by being on the set and not on the other side of the television screen. Someone's cranking on the volume offstage, because the aria starts getting louder and louder. Miss Frog, imperiously, tells me to turn it off. I can't. She advances towards me, chanting, cranking her own volume, "Turn it off! Turn it OFF! TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!!!" She is absolutely menacing. I'm paralyzed with fear and she can't hear a word I'm saying in my own defense. Praise be, I wake up. I continue to have this dream a number of times and become convinced that the only preventive measure is to go to sleep facing the wall. I cannot hear that aria to this day without being reminded of this nightmare!
