Redefining Middle-Class

Did I mention that stupidity is rampant? Check out President Bush's tax cut proposal then tell me what's wrong (besides the fact that there is no representation of ethnicity in the banner at the top of the page). What do you suppose our President's definition of middle-class is? A quote from the front page:

The tax system is unfair, especially for those struggling to make it into the middle class. Hardworking parents should be able to keep more of their own money to provide for their families. [Emphasis added]

If you check out the free "calculate your tax cut" page provided by Intuit, you may be surprised to find that the proposal is much more lucrative once your income hits about $100,000 per year; that the higher your income goes past that, the greater percentage of tax cut you receive; and that there is less of a benefit for taxpayers with children than those filing without dependents. Try plugging in sample numbers like I did, you'll be amazed. I was personally unaware that those people with annual incomes of $100,000 and greater were the ones who were struggling the most to make it into the middle-class. Incredible.
