I saw a license plate today that read "MAKAPU." I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it meant. The best I could come up with was "My Shit Stinks," (from "Mah Kaka: P.U.") which is pretty accurate no matter who the driver was. The real distinction here was that the driver recognized and admitted to something that is true for everyone. Most people would just apply such a statement to others, generally in anger. As a rule, we would much rather tell other people what their problems are (and how to solve them) than to take a good look at our own. I'm putting out a call for everyone to take a little responsibility for themselves. Sure, we can't all do it with our license plates (otherwise everybody would have the same plate and you'd all have to pay my 193 outstanding parking tickets; a shame that wouldn't work, really). But we can still show some solidarity in purpose. Write your congressman a letter by cutting out words from magazines that boldly states "MY SHIT STINKS!" Put it on your answering machine: "I'm not here right now, but at the tone MY SHIT WILL STILL STINK! BEEEEEP!" Demonstrate your meaning by smearing the words in four foot high block letters on the side of your place of work using your own feces, "MY SHIT STINKS! SE HABLA ESPANOL! FOOD STAMPS ACCEPTED HERE!!!" Subtly work it into your Christmas cards, "Hope you are well! MY SHIT STINKS! Happy Holidays!" Remember: nobody is perfect, especially you. MAKAPU! |
